FIWMD NOTICE TO RESIDENTS AND CONTRACTORS

Seasonal Schedule Change

Effective October 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027

The Fishers Island Waste Management District (FIWMD) will be implementing seasonal changes to the Transfer and Compost station schedules beginning October 1, 2026.

Thank you for your input! Please see the survey results and new station guide below.

The seasonal schedule includes the following changes:

  • Open TUESDAY-SATURDAY
  • Open ALL DAY on Tuesday (Transfer + Compost am/pm)
  • Open HALF DAY on Wednesday (Transfer am / Compost pm)
  • Closed 12:00 to 12:30 daily for lunch
  • “if you need it” FIWMD Household Trash Dumpster for FI Residents Only at the New London Ferry Terminal
  • Fall + Spring extended hours cleanup weekends to be announced

Residents and contractors are encouraged to plan accordingly to make use of the available operating hours.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we adjust our operations for the seasonal schedule.
