Residential Firewood at Fishers Island Waste Management District

We are pleased to inform you that Waste Management will be offering free firewood for residents for the 2025 fall season. Throughout the year, we have collected and stored various species of tree wood and will process a generous amount of unseasoned firewood to contribute to your home heating operation.

We are anticipating the firewood to be ready by the middle of November and available during business hours at the Compost Station.

Firewood will be for non-commercial residents only and can be obtained by self-loading. To ensure fair distribution, you are welcome to take a reasonable amount of firewood per resident (approximately 40 pieces/day).

FIWMD staff encourages you to:

• Bring your own safety equipment (gloves, safety glasses, and footwear)
• Be courteous respectful to others loading and collecting firewood on site
• Have fun and enjoy the fresh air as you collect

No cutting tools or personal equipment for use will be permitted on site.
